My first twins!

I was in Delta on Saturday to photograph my first twins. I first met them at the end of May and wow, they have grown into these healthy 8 months old. At the moment, I am busy post processing their pics. More pics here as I progress. :)   Here are the AA twins!

_mg_3464.jpg

They don’t look too happy, do they? LOL! They did take a long time to warm up to me but they did later. Those pics coming.

August will be a busy month for me and no, my last posting wasn’t a cheesy promotion! LOL! My kids’ activities are mostly in the week day mornings and hence, it will be slightly harder for me to arrange for morning or afternoon sessions next month. I will only have Fridays “off” in August and two to three Saturdays or Sundays that I can take on any session. So, if you do want a free session with me, please email.

An announcement and a baby

I am loving summer!! Not that I am going on vacation or doing something incredibly different from the norm but I am really, really enjoying the weather.

And no, I am not pregnant. This is why I shouldn’t put announcement and baby in the same line. LOL!! Here’s Baby D who was smiling and being so happy throughout our session.

And my favourite from the session.

Thank you, Jane for letting me photograph D.

The rest of my Harry Potter stamps are here!!

Whoo-hooo!!! I thought I will never see the rest of it but it’s here. The stuff are gorgeous!!!

img_3219.jpg

As you can see, there are postcards of the book covers as well as the crest of each Hogwart Houses. Then we have the Presentation Pack. It looks like a satchel with all the stamps of the covers as well. Inside, there is a write up on JK Rowling. Then, the Generic Sheet “of twenty Hogwarts house stamps, each one featuring a magic spell from the Harry Potter books.” I am most excited over this (I know, the shame of acting like an over-excited child).

img_3220.jpg

If you place your finger over the label and count to 10 (ok, ok.. I followed the instructions, hehe), the label will reveal what that particular magic spell is for. Ta-da!!

img_3221.jpg

Isn’t it super cool? I love how the UK Royal Mail package this. It even beats the”Lord of the Rings” trilogy stamps I bought.

What a feeling!!

My first blog post on my own server. It’s like the first time you live out on your own, LOL!

We went to see “Ratatouile” on Sunday. We got tickets as a gift. Initially, I had wanted to just take my son for that and then go for a movie date with hubby to watch “Hairspray” but I felt bad for my 4 y/o daughter. Anyway, she got bored within the first 30 mins and then she had to pee even though she peed before the start of the movie. In the end, hubby took her out and they never came back into the theatre. We finally met up outside and daughter asked, “Why mommy is so long inside?”

I really want to watch “Hairspray”. I loved the one with Divine in it and I love 60s music.

I don’t have any new pictures to show this week. Initially, I had a session tomorrow but it was cancelled – again. I am not sure if I totally understand the reasons that was given for cancelling but I want to say that as much as I appreciate moms who help and support me on my portfolio building, I really wish that even free sessions should be treated as seriously as paid sessions. I really make a huge effort in clearing my schedule so that I can fix a photography session for the appointed day. With a cancellation, I lose a beautiful day (after the horrible rainy week we had) and another potential subject whom I had to turn away earlier because of this other who said ok and then cancelled for such reasons.

Yes, I am disappointed.

But

I will get

over it.

Quote from Homer Simpson: “I’m normally not a praying man, but if you’re up there, please save me Superman.”

I am migrating!!!

Migrating to my own server instead of hosting my blog on wordpress.com. Everything remains the same except that the next posting will be at [click] MY NEW BLOG. Please update your bookmark. I spent a whole night figuring things out and installing wordpress on my server, ran into problems etc etc since I am just an ok tech savvy. Thank god for Google and forums. :)

See everyone over there!

I need the sun!

What a lousy week weather-wise! I can’t wait for the sun to show up again. My this week’s sessions were all rescheduled to next week or the week after. I’m so bummed that I couldn’t get to photograph the new baby and a little girl. Fingers crossed for good weather from Tuesday till end of summer!!! LOL!

So, yesterday I asked my daughter if she would want to be photographed by mommyduring a break from the rain. She agreed if only she wore her favourite skirt and got to play with the umbrella. No problem, babe. So, here’s the pics from our session. Trying to find inspiration on different processing. I was feeling a bit vintagy — you know, lower saturation of colours and all. It was a fun session until she slipped on something slippery. :(

You might like this too..

if you don’t know about this products by now. They were all new to me. I’ve thought of rambling how I’ve gotten these things but I think not. Anyway, this antibaterial foam wash from The Bath & Body Works is terrific! The one I have has blackberry and vanilla scent. Each time we wash our hands with it, the bathroom smells just a tinge of it. My kids are washing their hands more nowadays. LOL! bath & body works

Next, cupcakes! But not your average cupcakes. These are by Original Cupcakes. Nice looking and good stuff.

Thank you. You know who you are! :)

I received my Harry Potter First Day Covers in the mail. Still missing in the Owl Service is the stamps, presentation pack and another something. I feel like partipating in the midnight Harry Potter book release tonight although I’m not buying the book till later.

Monitor Callibration Tool

Many of us can’t afford to get those expensive hardwares to callibrate our monitors but then a lot of us don’t always spesifically use the computer to view pictures. But here’s a free simple tool to adjust your monitors so that you are seeing the colours /contrast that I see. :) Monitor Callibration Tool

Oh, it’s raining :(

But I guess it’s good to get some rain. Just that it’s forecast to rain everyday till Saturday. I mean, it’s summer. It rains all the time from September and our summer days are only these many.

Time to bring out some summerish pics to chase the clouds away! Last week, I took my kids to the wading pool at the park. I highly recommend parents to take photograph their kids at wading pools because on certain angles & composition, it looks like somewhere posh!

(Pictures not available on flickr anymore – sorry)
:) 12

We went to my husband’s company Family Day last week at Fraser Foreshore Park. Nice day and the kids enjoyed themselves. They went straight for the bubbles.

Face painting:

I thought it was a dinosaur but I was corrected that it was a kangaroo! :)

What’s a day without balloons, right?

It’s really nice to carry a small camera with me nowadays. Anyway, I haven’t done anything “dark” for sometime. Took this at the Richmond Dike Trail. Thought it warrants something like this.

Fingers crossed for sunny (but not hot) days this week despite the forecast or else I will have to reschedule two more sessions to another week.

New pictures to share

I am so happy that I’ve finally photographed my doctor’s newborn baby girl. I think I might go back and photograph some more after they’ve moved to their new home in August. Please welcome, Ms. A. :)

Two of my favourites from the session:

Finally, Ms. A was a bit fussy at some point and I said to my doc to calm her down before she got too stressed from the crying. So, mommy was actually rocking her a bit and I thought, that’s a nice picture and clicked! Believe me, they were like just for like a few seconds before Ms. A fussed up again. :)

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I learned something new today.

How to make a tutu. My new prop for all the cutie girls. Here’s my daughter with the tutu. She wouldn’t want to get up.tutu

What a week, eh?

Today’s weather is slightly cooler and it made me miss the heat! LOL. This evening we are going to hubby’s company’s Family Day bbq. All the kids who registered got a t-shirt. Not bad!

I am excited for my newborn session on Sunday. I almost fidgeted from not doing any photography this week. I so enjoy doing two sessions a week. It gives me a breather in between sessions. I really love this “job” I am doing. It has been a long time since I enjoyed working.

Here are some pics I did a week ago for L, a 10 month old. She was sick on that day but she was still a cutie-patootie trooper. Her mom calls her “quite a ham”. :) I have to agree. L is another lucky baby – her own nursery/room and lots of people showering her with so much love. It was incredible.

I envisioned the baby in the tub right in a middle of a meadow or grassy area but sadly, they didn’t have grass on their lawn. Her mom said they will have grass in two weeks.

What are you reading?

It’s fun to read a book outside in the shade. I read more during the cold days. I should really start reading more again. I used buy and read a lot! There are so many books that I can recommend you. One of my ultimate favourite of all time is “The Suitable Boy” by Vikram Seth. I finished that within a week. Another is “The Fine Balance” by Rohinton Minstry. Well, those are for the serious side of me. Usually, I love fast paced, conversationally written books like.. hmmm… the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich. Who to choose? The good looking cop or the suave mysterious bounty hunter? I doubt we’ll ever know which Stephanie will choose. :) And of course, the Harry Potter books. “The Da Vince Code” is one helluva great story writing.

Right now I’m reading “Middlesex” by Jeffrey Eugenides. Well, yeah. I saw that episode of Oprah. :) I picked up Stephen King’s book at the library which includes “1408″. I was just wondering what’s the story about that they made a movie out of it. I love horror stories but haven’t read one in ages. I don’t usually like Stephen King’s books though. My favourite horror author is Graham Masterton. His books gave me the chills. I started with “The Manitou” and then kept buying and buying. I remember one book (forgot the title) about kids in the wall and man, it gave me (and my friend who read it too) the creeps. I found his latter books aren’t as good as his earliest ones and I didn’t read him anymore. But tonight, I got curious and found a new book called “Edgewise” at the library. So will scare myself silly this summer.

Boy, isn’t today HOT???

HEATWAVVVVEEEEEEEEE!!

It is going to hit 37 deg today. It is already so stifling in my small apartment. Aaarrghhh. Need to hide at Starbucks and slurp my Frappy.

Here are my kids & their cousin playing with the phones.

Twice the fun

This week is supposed to be my week off from photography. Well, it is but I caught up with my post processing. I’m done with all the pics and every disc is set to be given out to all moms.

My family doctor called me very early this morning to cancel the newborn session as her baby is sick with stomach flu. Hope the little girl will get better soon. I can’t wait to photograph her. That said, I am waiting for another mom to confirm her session with her newborn this week. I love, LOVE photographing newborns now.

I posted some of “E” in the other posting but I’ve finished processing her pics and found two more I like.img_1447-bw.jpg e

Doesn’t she look awesome? I watched her sleeping for a while and it was so calming. :)

Ok, now to Lynn. I know you said I should take my time to do the pics and believe me, I have. I know you are dying to see the pics of D. So, here’s a peek. I’ll be dropping off the discs to you soon. Will email ya.

I love a fairy who smirks. :) And lastly, this is the pic you said, “Oh, doesn’t she look like an angel?” Yep, she does! :) Thanks for letting me photograph D, Lynn.

Summer fun!

Summer has just started and my kids just broke the record for most falls and injuries to their knees. Last week at the a session at Deer Lake, I saw my son and S running and I was commenting to S’s mom, Lynn about how scary it is to see kids running as if they will fall flat on their face at any second and SPLAT! My son fell flat on his face. He didn’t had a serious graze but it was bleeding all the same. He didn’t cry I think there were two girls there. :) Yesterday, my daughter fell and grazed her knees bad. She was crying during her short shower last night. So she didn’t go for her swim lesson this morning.

In my previous post, I mentioned that I bought a Canon point & shoot camera. I broke mine earlier this year. The LCD wouldn’t work anymore and I doubt the cost repairing it will justify the price of the camera. After much researching, I decided on the Canon Powershot SD1000 and I am having FUN with it. It’s really nice to take a small camera with you wherever you go instead of a huge DSLR. I mostly like to do videos of my kids so this camera works well. I highly recommend it if you are looking for something small right now.

Here’s us making funny faces.

Hubby likes this pic of me. I don’t see what’s so good about the subject in this pic.

Coo… coo

I bought a new laptop bag!! I saw it in the Best Buy flyer and thought of having a look. Well, to cut the story short, I bought it along with a new Canon P&S. I had the employee discount courtesy from a relative. So, the shocking pink Targus bag I bought last month from Office Depot will be returned. I didn’t even have a chance to use that one at all!

The new bag is from Golla (it’s Finnish!) and it’s the Dance messenger bag. I had a hard time deciding on the white or orange one. Best Buy doesn’t carry all the selection or else I would have wanted the all funky red Dance version. Here’s what I bought.

golla dance white

The red is an option but Best Buy doesn’t carry it.

golla dance red

Do you think the orange is funkier?

golla orange

I’m soooo leaning on the orange one but this bag is big because the laptop is stored horizontally instead of vertically. Hubby said a big orange bag will look kinda well… big.

Look what I got in the mail today…

Yes, another mail to get me to buy something. But this one is different.

It’s from UK’s Royal Mail. I am on their list. I’ve bought some interesting stamps from them over the years (yes, I still do collect stamps but not as crazy anymore). The last one I bought was the Beatles ones. I think I bought the special discount pack which includes a variety of things like first day covers etc.beatles stamp

But today, the big envelope looks like a brown satchel with the words, “PREPARE TO BE SPELLBOUND.” So, guess what it is? I guess you can. They are coming out the Harry Potter stamps!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll probably buy the discount pack too. Lovely!

The case of carrying too much heavy stuff..

or sleeping wrongly?? I am not sure. I woke up this morning with my right shoulder and neck just basically tensed and slightly sore. I want a back massage so badly but it’s so expensive. :( Yesterday, I carried my heavy gear for over an hour doing a session at Deer Lake. Might be because of that. I’m planning to take next week off from photography and enjoy the summer with my kids but what do you know? My family doctor who was pregnant and was due yesterday called me this afternoon to say that her baby came two weeks early. She is now back home and that I can go to her place anytime to photograph her new baby daughter. I am soooooooooo happy she called me and am pleased it’s a girl. :) I have been photographing so many girls lately though but I don’t mind. Girls are fun, boys are neat!! heheh.

This morning, I went to Surrey to photograph a 10 month old girl. She was sweet. I now have three sessions to post process and I might have to drag them out for a few extra days because of my shoulder. It was a bit tough photographing this morning as I was sore.

Anyway, I do have three pics I did of the 16 day old girl called E. She is my first newborn who didn’t fuss or cry too much; my first newborn who actually slept on my prop and let me posed her; and my first newborn who didn’t pee on my stuff, LOL!!

pic 1

I really like empty spaces these days. It does work on newborn pictures.

My new prop. A steel bucket/pail I found at Winners/Home Sense. On sale for only $9.00. As Homer Simpson would say, “WHOO-HOO!”

It’s beginning to look more like summer.

Yes, finally! Hot days with sunshine and blue skies. :) I just had a session with D (whose older sister S is the Girl Fairy!) this morning. So, will look into the pics later.

Here are two pictures of A, the 18 day old baby girl I photographed on Sunday. I really, really, REALLY like the second pic a lot. If I have a studio, I would just blow that up and have it framed on my wall.
