What a weekend!
We seems to be having great sunny days during the week and then cloudy, cool and threatening rain on the weekends. Why must it be like that? Aargh. I am hoping to have a photo session with two girls this Sunday and so please Rain, come again another day. Just managed to process two pics from a week ago when my son was off from school (Pro-D days – every parents’ favourites – nah!). He didn’t want to go out and played with his birthday present, a CSI kit. Guess his sister’s teddy bear has to be sacrificied.

Notice that the crime scene banner has french version on it.
On Sunday, we went to Saige’s birthday party. Her mom had it done ala Hawaiian complete with slush drinks with mini umbrellas, pina coladas for the parents (and later, Starbucks Verona coffee was added), tons of tropical fruits and carb filling food. One of the guests brought these cute twin brothers and they have the most gorgeous eyes and hair. I gave their mom my card and hope she will call me to do a session. It’s almost bad on my part in giving my cards to other guests at someone else’s party but these twins are just gorgeous. Their parents told me they won some cute baby contest. Whoa!
Anyway, back to the party. Saige’s mom hired this troupe of hula dancers. At first, I thought it was not going to be good but the first dancer blew me away with her motion and expression. The coach had 10 of her students with different costumes and about 6-7 different dances. Poor girls had to bear with the cool weather but it was a great highlight. Most of the younger boys were bored with the performance though. Now come the part where I will tell you that I didn’t bring my camera even though I knew there was going to be hula dancers. I always debate if I should bring my camera along to any function but now I just follow a simple rule. If I am in charge of my two kiddos myself, I won’t. I don’t have a small compact P&S camera anymore. I dropped a less-than-a-year-old camera a couple of months ago and I never bother to buy another. It’s hard to photograph other people or things when you are wondering where or what your kids are up to in someone’s house. Megan loves the grass skirt and fake lai and she wore them home. She was posing for daddy when I managed to squeeze my camera for some shots.
Finally done.
I’ve finally arranged the layout of the pictures in my website. I wish I have more portfolio and am trying to get word of mouth going around. I will be putting up flyers around community centres and libraries. Wow, getting portfolio is sure not easy.
Anyway, in my previous posts I have been talking about KL and J and here are some of their pics. I absolutely love them to bits. When I dropped off the pictures at their home yesterday, both kids went to the window and waved bye at me. It was so utterly cute. I want to say that their mom, H, is a natural beauty, something about her that I really like about. Maybe I will ask H to do a session as well. Hahaha… Onto the pics.

Oh gosh…
I haven’t been keeping up with this blog. I’m so busy and lazy with everything. I’m so happy photographing kids these days and I welcome it. You don’t need to say much when they come over to you and ask you to hug and carry them. This is what happened on Tuesday when I was photographing a going to be 3 years old girl called KL. She’s adorable and so is her elder brother, J. I took so many pics of them – well, more of KL – but I do love your tougue out poses too, J.
It’s amazing that after you let them do their cheeky poses, they will show the other side of them. I couldn’t keep up with KL because she’s so active and fast! She’s such a great practise for me too, LOL. Yes, pictures coming. I have so many to process. Here are some pics of M the 14 month old boy I was talking about. Her mom hasn’t got the chance to look at the pictures yet but here are a few of my favourites.

New website, here I come!
Whoo..hoo.. finally registered my new domain name – lissalo.com. I used yogilo-images.com for my wedding photography and have since let it expired. I can’t wait to start my new venture. I have the layout I want and am getting pictures from free sessions I am doing for my portfolio. This morning, I photographed a 14 month old boy called M. He has the cutest smile and the “pinchiest” cheeks. I shot over 100 pics in an hour and am sifting through the pile. Will post some pics here later.
I took my daughter for her chicken pox vaccine shot this afternoon. Half an hour before that she was singing happily, “I’m having my chicken pox shot. I’m having my chicken pox shot.” She was delirious. She remembered the flu shot she did in winter and she didn’t cry at all. But alas, the nurse told me they are inserting the needle differently and it will hurt. And cry Megan did. Just for 2 mins though, heheh. I promised her a Starbucks Hot Chocolate. Both my kids ended up sharing a lemon raspberry loaf and the hot cocoa.
Megan wants to show her band-air on her arm to her friends in preschool tomorrow. LOL!
Finally, the (itching rashes) nightmare is over
Phew. Now I really must find out what triggered it. It’s the first time I had such a thing happened to me.
My Pbase account is about to expire in a month. I’m not sure if I want to renew. I joined PBase in 2002 when it was free but after three active tumultous years, I’m moving on to something else… hmm.. like Flickr.
I joined Flickr in 2005 but left it empty for two years. I love the discussions and very inspiring pictures there. But PBase is sentimental to me.
I’m really hoping to get my new website done soon. This will be my kids & familes photography site. I’m no longer doing weddings. As much as how awesomely “high” the kick is doing weddings, it’s stressful. I’m enjoying photographing kids more. I have several more appointments to be “booked” including a 14 month old boy and a newborn next month. Can’t wait.
I got my husband to take the kids & I for the annual salmon chums release. We went to Kanaka Creek Regional Park in Maple Ridge at the end of April. The fries are sure small though. I’m not which kind of salmon they are. Just yesterday, we went to Tynehead Regional Park in Surrey which we went last year. The chums are bigger and you can release how many as you want. An ok rating family outing as the kids weren’t too keen on long rides.

I am breaking out….
with rashes! Aaarggh!! It started yesterday afternoon when I wasitching along my waist. I thought my new Gap jeans was too tight or something but by bedtime, I was itching everywhere. During the night, I was scratching like crazy and I woke up to more rashes all over my stomach. I don’t have any known allergy but I guess now I do? I tried to remember anything different I ate but can’t. It was normal the day before. And tonight, the rashes are going up my neck. The rashes on my tummy area is fading off. It’s like going up. My legs itches and red at some areas. This reminds me of my paternal grandmother. She died of TB over 30 years ago but I remembered she had rashes too. The rashes started on her tummy and slowly went up towards her neck. My mom was saying it’s the snake rash because the rashes act like a snake coiling a victim. I should really see my doc about this. I bought a cortizone cream from Wal-Mart this morning. It’s supposed to ease the itch but I don’t think it’s working. Aarrgh.. help!
P.S. I just hope I am not allergic to Starbucks’ Peppermint Mocha!!
And update to my dishwasher leak probs. Apparently, the drain pump was leaking and my plumber says it’s cheaper to just get a new dishwasher. I went to Sears and bought the cheapest they have but it all ended up more than $450 which includes delivery, installation and take-away the old unit fees. I asked the guy who did the laminate flooring to redo the vinyl flooring in the kitchen and foyer but he’s too busy. I want it redone before the new dishwasher comes but I guess it won’t.

I am a buffoon
I’m trying to post the pics here from Flickr but I messed up. I want the pics to be at the end of my post but it’s above and below. LOL. Forgot about Charlie the corgi.
Rain, rain go away..
It’s Wednesday and we are having a really wet, dark day. Makes you want to sleep all day. After the brilliant sunny last weekend, this is such a downer. It’s May but I guess it’s to be expected in Vancouver. It’s our special, LOL.
I had a active weekend, ahem. Saturday morning, I went for my first kids photography session. As I’ve written in “My World” page, I’m actively seeking a photography portfolio on kids, family, newborn or even maternity here in Burnaby, BC or Greater Vancouver. My new venture will be lissalo.com. I’m starting with the kids from my son’s school. I’ve asked several moms but they always say let me ask my husband and then they never get back to me. So I was very surprised when I asked this mom I know and she said sure. Just like that. Whoo-hoo!! I had a great time with the kids. E is a shy one and it was tough photographing him as he kept hiding in the den or in their playhouse. I got lots of great ones of their daughter, H. The other boy twin K warmed up to me later and showed off his skateboarding skills. Way to go. Here are some pictures to share. And I mustn’t forget, Charlie the corgi who kept asking me to play fetch with him.
