Why me?!
So, hubby & I thought we could save some $$ this month but you don’t know when a rainy day will come when it’s always raining here in Vancouver. Our new neighbour downstairs came to us on Sat night and told us that her kitchen & dining room ceiling has water stains and leaks. We went uh-oh. I called my plumber on Monday and he said he will check it out this afternoon. Yesterday, I couldn’t stand it and opened the bottom panel of the dishwasher and saw water stains on the back of the wall and vinyl flooring is popping up.
Boo-hooooooo…. I think the water ran to the wall instead of out hence we didn’t even know the dishwasher was leaking. I’m not sure where is the leak yet and I really hope my plumber will really be here at 2pm as he said he would. I can’t stop thinking of the cost of repairing the back wall, vinyl flooring (although we were meaning to change it this summer) and painting downstairs ceiling. Keeping my fingers crossed that our liability would be at least 50/50 but hubby said the drain inside that wall is not the strata’s responsibility. I don’t want to get too hype up and stress myself so much over this.
My son just quietly sipped my starbucks peppermint mocha which I have in the fridge. He came and talked to me and I smelled coffee in his breath! That kid. I’ve told him a dozen times not to drink coffee but I guess I’m mostly mad because I felt “violated”. I wouldn’t care if he had drunk hot chocolate or the red wine (not that he touched that) but I’m saying, NO ONE touches my peppermint mocha!! Since we are having sushi tonight, he won’t get any as a punishment. Instead, he will have last night’s fried rice. He won’t get hungry, just that he won’t get the good stuff.
My friend Mike in Malaysia is still in bad shape. Come on, Mike — AJA! FIGHT! You can do it!!
Here’s a pic I took at my kid’s school today. At 5 minutes before the bell rang, only 4 kids were waiting outside their classroom. Seems like everyone just gets to school on time or a little late nowadays. I noticed that kids who live very near the school are mostly the late ones. Don’t know why.

Today’s weather in Burnaby is fantastic. Love the sunshine and blue skies.
One of my son’s classmate, Ranvir celebrated his birthday today. Tomorrow – another classmate, Julia. My son suggested singing Happy Birthday to Julia to the other three friends (all in the pic) and they did when she arrived. She was so happy with big smiles. I asked her to give me a pose and she did. I can’t post it here as much as I want to. I don’t have her parents’ permission. I did make a print at Shoppers but the pic came out too dark and saturated. It didn’t look like that on my monitor. So later in the afternoon, I went to London Drugs and I told the techie person that the pic looks dark on the screen. She told me their monitor inside the lab is calibrated. When I went to pick it up, she came out with the pic and whoa, it was perfect. Just like what’s on my own monitor. She said, it was fine and the outside self-service monitor needs to be calibrated again. It was a beautiful picture. Hope Julia’s family like it. I’m not too sure why I went all the way to get a good print of the pic.
Ouch!
Went to the dentist this morning to get some of sensitive teeth sealed and two minor fillings done. When it was time to sign the insurance submission paper, I got a shock over the amount to be submitted. $1080!!! Not bad for 40 mins of work, doc!
On a sad note, an online photographer friend in Malaysia is now in a 50/50 chance surviving condition. At first, he was in the hospital to take out his appendix but the doc discovered it was colon gangrene! He was on the respiratory machine and was recovering for a while when we got the bad news yesterday. Part of his lungs collapsed and now inflated with the help of a machine, his kidney has shut down, blood pressure and heartbeat are too low and weak. I’m just so dishearted to hear all that. The only communication we had before was through MSN and he is such a crazy guy. I also had a chance to meet up with him last year but through miscommunication, each of us thought we were too busy to meet up. Doh! So, Mike… you can do it. Be strong and fight. Your friends at PK are rallying for you to be STRONG.
Another sad note is that he doesn’t have insurance so his hospital bills (surgery, stays in ICU etc) will come to tens of thousands of ringgit. Our PK forum is setting up a fund and trying to help with whatever amount we can.
But Mike, you HAVE to BE STRONG & FIGHT. You have to come out of this trial.
Oh My God!!
What have I done? Everyone’s doing it so why don’t I? LOL! This is my first post and I am at loss here trying to figure out things at WP. Need more late nights.
